Lapid and Gantz on the northern border: "Continued Hezbollah aggression could lead to escalation" | Israel today

Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz patrolled the Lebanese border, warning the terrorist organization of attacks, among other things.

During a joint tour conducted today (Tuesday) by Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz on the Lebanese border, strong messages were heard about Hezbollah.

"The State of Israel is prepared and ready to act against any threat," Lapid said.

"We are not facing a confrontation, but whoever tries to harm our sovereignty or the citizens of Israel will very quickly find out that he has made a serious mistake."

He said, "Israel is interested in Lebanon as a stable and prosperous neighbor that is not a platform for Hezbollah's terrorism and is not an Iranian tool. Hezbollah's activities endanger Lebanon, its citizens and their well-being."

Defense Minister Ganz added: "The State of Lebanon and its leaders are well aware that if they choose the path of fire - they will be harmed and severely burned. And if they choose the path of stability - they will help the citizens of Lebanon."

The tour was attended by the head of the National Security Council, Eyal Hulta, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Herzli Halevi, the Commander of the Northern Command, Major General Amir Baram, the Military Secretary to the Prime Minister, Shay Clapper.

As you may recall, tensions between the two countries continue after the IDF shot down a skimmer that crossed the Lebanese border area yesterday and penetrated Israel into the area of the 300th Spatial Brigade.

According to an IDF spokesman, the glider was monitored by the air control units throughout the incident and apparently belonged to the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Meanwhile, the pro-Saudi Al-Arabiya network reported that the glider that the IDF shot down in the north belonged to the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, Lapid and Gantz's joint tour and the aggressive statements against Lebanon come in the midst of negotiations on the maritime border between the two countries.

Lebanon's original position claimed that the shark drilling rig was in its economic waters.

About two weeks ago, Hezbollah launched three drones at the rig, but these were located and intercepted by the Air Force and Navy.

Following the operation, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued an unusual statement in which he clarified that the launch of the drones was done without coordination with the Lebanese government, and that this was an "unacceptable act that endangered the country for no reason."

The fact that Lapid and Gantz, who are considered bitter political rivals and are in the midst of an election campaign, chose to conduct a joint public tour of the Northern Command and publish coordinated messages to the Lebanese government, testifies to Israel's importance of the issue and the united front.
