The intervention of firefighters and police is still in progress this Tuesday noon.
A fire broke out in a pavilion in Coupvray (Seine-et-Marne), rue du Château-Gaillard around 3:40 a.m. on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
Five people were in the house at the time.
While an 8-year-old girl has died, her three-year-old sister is nowhere to be found.
The search continues to find her.
The parents as well as the uncle, aunt and cousin of the two children who were staying in the house were poisoned by the fumes.
They were transported to the hospitals of Meaux and Jossigny.
The 16-year-old suffered serious burns to his arm, according to firefighters.
Mayor in shock
If the origin of the fire remains unknown for the time being, about thirty firefighters were mobilized on the spot.
They brought the fire under control after two hours.
Contacted, Thierry Cerri, the mayor (SE) of this town of 2,800 inhabitants, went there at 5 am this morning.
In shock, the one who knew the family well deplores a “disaster in a quiet village like ours”.
The elected official specifies that the little victim was a member of the municipal council of children.
"She was going to go to CM1 class," he says.
He is now waiting to know how to best support the parents after this tragedy.
The Meaux Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation and seized the Lagny-sur-Marne police station in support of the Departmental Security.
