This is in fact on the brink.

Bad Tölz

– A wide range of topics was recently discussed at the annual general meeting of the district hunting association (KJV) Bad Tölz.

The last meeting was two and a half years ago and a lot has happened since then.

Since last year, KJV chairman Wolfgang Morlang has been intensively involved with the plan to expand the isolated ibex colony on the Benediktenwand by settling another ten ibex and thus bringing fresh blood into the stock.

The driving force behind this plan is the large game conservation community of the KJV, which includes the lower hunting authority at the Tölz district office.

Actually, everything seemed to be going well - the applications to the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry were made last summer.

They were based on the living conditions and genetic analyzes previously researched by the Institute for Evolutionary Biology at the University of Zurich.

Ibex released into the wild - Morlang criticized: "We as applicants were not spoken to for a long time"

But then objections came from nature conservation and back and forth between the ministry and the district office.

"We haven't been spoken to as applicants for a long time," Morlang told the gathering.

The concern was that if the ibex colony grew stronger, it would need more food and cause more browsing and drive away chamois and deer.

The project should not “only” be viewed as an addition and blood refreshment to the colony that has existed since the 1960s, but as a completely independent project – with state monitoring and animals that may have ear tags or be equipped with radio transmitters.

Concerns: Ibex colony may need more food and drive away other animals

"Conservation is the task of the hunters and has been done excellently for decades with regard to ibex," emphasized Morlang.

The financing of the project is secured by the hunting side.

"If the state and nature conservation organizations want to get involved, we'll drop this project." The state and nature conservationists are trying more and more and in many places to undermine the rights of landowners and, as a result, also the rights of hunting.

The assembly unanimously agreed with Morlang's statement.

Accordingly, one also wants to follow the approach of the newly founded landscape conservation association in the district with a critical eye.

Care must be taken to ensure that the wishes of the property owners are respected.

As a further adjusting screw in this regard, one also sees the replacement of the leadership of the game conservation community Isarwinkel, which will take place shortly after the death of Anton Krinner.

Here, too, care should be taken to leave this office in private hands.

District hunting association eyed landscape conservation association critically

Another "urgently to be worked on" is the wolf, according to Morlang.

He certainly has a right to life.

But where agricultural use takes place, the stock number must be adjusted.

"We have to adjust the stocks of roe deer, red deer and chamois because large populations cause damage, the same must be possible with wolves." Politicians are required to quickly lower the protection status.

The results of the most recent forest report, which previously showed too much browsing in four and now in three of the six conservancies, are a step forward for hunters.
