This evening, the Hama Fire Brigade put out several fires that broke out in the mountainous forests and fruit trees in the villages of Al-Zawi, Al-Qubbah and Al-Hailuna in the countryside of Masyaf.
Madian Al-Ali, head of the Forest Protection Center in Masyaf, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the fires devoured areas of fruitful trees such as olives, apples, pomegranates and forest trees, pointing out that the strong winds led to the rapid spread of the fire and difficulty in dealing with it, in addition to the rugged terrain of the area and the inability of firefighting vehicles to reach the sites flames.
Al-Ali indicated that work is currently underway to cool the hotbeds of fire and monitor them over the next hours, lest it erupt again.
