The Honorary General Consulate of the Republic of Paraguay inaugurated today in the Free Zone in Damascus, as part of the efforts exerted to strengthen and develop relations between Syria and Paraguay.
In a speech after the opening ceremony and raising the Paraguayan flag in front of the consulate, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Sousan, affirmed that the opening of the consulate will lay a basic building block for strengthening friendship between the two countries and opening promising prospects for cooperation between them in various fields.
Susan pointed out that Syria, based on its belief in establishing the best relations with all countries of the world on the basis of respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, is keen to strengthen these relations in a way that achieves the mutual interests of all peoples and lays solid foundations for cooperation, ensuring peace and security in the world and achieving prosperity for all.
Susan pointed out that the opening of the consulate represents a celebration of friendship with Paraguay, whose bridges have been extended by the expatriate sons of Syria in Paraguay and throughout Latin America.
For his part, President of the Paraguayan Senate, Oscar Solomon Fernandez, affirmed that the opening of the consulate in Damascus will contribute to strengthening and strengthening relations with Syria, indicating that the Senate will provide all possible assistance for the success of the consulate's work and the performance of the tasks entrusted to it.
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Paraguay in Damascus, Muhammad Qattan, explained that the opening of the consulate is a dedication to the developed relations between the two friendly countries, pointing to the friendly relations that bind the two peoples for nearly a century.
Qattan stressed the importance of the role that the Consulate will play in strengthening and developing diplomatic, political and economic relations between the two countries, strengthening friendship ties and blending culture between them, expressing his hope to intensify joint work in all fields and open the way for Syria to access markets in America.

The opening was attended by Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Dr. Amr Salem, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Muhammad Akram Al-Ajlani, Paraguayan Senator Juan Afra Miguel, Paraguayan Ambassador in Beirut, Chargé d’Affairs of his country’s embassy in Damascus Fernando Parisi, Honorary Consul of Syria in the Paraguayan capital “Asuncion” Moataz Al-Khatib and Honorary Consul Mikhail Miskin, in the city of “Sudad Delste”, Syria.
A number of heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited in Damascus, a number of members of the People's Assembly, directors of departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, official events, a number of board members of the Damascus Chambers of Commerce and Damascus and its countryside, the Board of Directors of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, and a number of traders, industrialists and businessmen also participated in the opening.
