Westworld
, the film by Michael Crichton (1973), a company offers tourists the opportunity to go and have fun in three exotic worlds: ancient Rome, the Middle Ages or the Wild West of the 1880s. The three universes are populated by robots who look like humans, except that they are programmed to satisfy all the desires of tourists, including the most ignoble.
Of course, the robots revolt, but this is not the case in the metavers, a word forged by the contraction of the Greek "meta" (beyond) and the English "universe", a term which therefore designates universes beyond reality.
These are indeed mixed reality worlds in which your avatar (a representation of yourself that you can "customize") can wander around to have a thousand activities,
