The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed, during his meeting with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, various international and regional developments and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, which would fail all plans aimed at dividing the region and its fragmentation in order to serve the Zionist-American project.
The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the parliaments of the two countries at the regional and international levels, stressing the need to develop bilateral relations in various fields, especially economic and trade.
For his part, Minister Miqdad stressed the importance of the role of parliaments in defending the rights of peoples who suffer from occupation, terrorism and economic siege, reviewing the latest field and political developments in Syria.
For his part, Qalibaf stressed the Islamic Consultative Assembly's keenness to develop relations with Syria, provide the required parliamentary support in this regard, and follow up on the implementation of the agreements reached during his recent visit to Syria.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Diop, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Special Office Department, Dr. Tawfiq Abu Ghalloun from the Syrian Embassy in Tehran, Roa Sharbaji from the Foreign Minister’s Office, and from the Iranian side Jalalzadeh, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee In the council, Abbas Kelro, deputy head of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, a number of council members and some senior officials in the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
