Memmingen - The planned new construction of the Memmingen Clinic was included in the 2023 hospital construction program by the Free State Council of Ministers.

A total of 291.59 million euros in eligible costs for the major construction project were estimated.

Memmingen is very happy about this decision.

Lord Mayor Manfred Schilder speaks of a groundbreaking decision for the city and the region.

“With this decision by the Council of Ministers, we have taken a big step forward.

A state-of-the-art health campus for the city and region will be built in Memmingen.

The plans can now be pushed forward with all our might.”

The planned new building is one of the largest non-university hospital construction projects in Bavaria. Clinic director Maximilian Mai adds: “We are very grateful to the Free State of Bavaria for the legal funding associated with the inclusion in the hospital construction program and see this as confirmation of the path we have taken.

This is a great interim success that is based on the trusting cooperation within the clinic, the city of Memmingen, the co-builders District Clinics Schwaben of the Swabian government and the State Ministry for Health and Care.

We would like to thank everyone involved for this, in particular Minister of State Klaus Holetschek for his personal support.

The chairman of the board of the district clinics in Swabia, Stefan Brunhuber, is also pleased about the good news, which enables the seamless continuation of the mammoth project.

At the beginning of 2020, the Memmingen city council voted in principle for a new building for the clinic.

The new clinic is to be built on the former "Ikea property" at the motorway junction.

A total of 480 inpatient beds and nine semi-inpatient places are planned for the Memmingen Clinic.

The Memmingen district hospital will have 66 full in-patient beds and 20 semi-in-patient places.
