Preparations on the Temple Mount for T. Bab: "On Jerusalem Day there was a horror" | Israel today

Tisha B'Av will take place in two weeks, and thousands are expected to ascend the Temple Mount. • The fear: without proper preparation - another Meron disaster will occur • Chairman of "In our hands":

In recent weeks, the media has been covering the tedious queues at Ben Gurion Airport. Vacations abroad are a sacred right, and when they are in danger, the knights of democracy are furious.

On the other hand, no one is interested in another queue - the queue of those who want to get to the heart of the capital.

When the right to ascend the Temple Mount is violated - no one makes a sound.

On the last day of Jerusalem, about 4,000 people wanted to ascend the Temple Mount, a record number of visitors in one day.

Old men, women and children stood for long hours under the scorching sun, without water and in heavy density.

They were forced to squeeze through a narrow sleeve at the entrance to the security checkpoint and were crushed against the walls.

In two weeks, the people of Israel will mark the fast of Tisha B'Av, and thousands are expected to ascend the Temple Mount again.

Just before a Meron-style overcrowding disaster occurs again, the Bydino organization publishes a report seeking to alert those responsible and require them to act accordingly.

"Government ministries - with an emphasis on the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Security and the Ministry of Transportation - must take responsibility for the ascent of Jews to the Temple Mount, formulate solutions and prepare in advance for major aliyah days." "H.

The report also recommends placing ushers to direct the ascent, distribute water and take care of shady spots in the waiting area.

"Neglect of years"

According to the report, construction work is needed to widen the entrance to the Temple Mount, and to build a new and safe bridge.

"This is a matter of years of neglect, because no one cares," said Tom Nissani, chairman of Bydino, who authored the report.

"At the time, when ten people climbed the Temple Mount a day or Yehuda Glick one, it did not bother anyone. The thing is that the state does not understand that things have changed, that every religious or national day thousands come to the mountain.

"What we saw on Jerusalem Day was a horror. Hundreds of people are standing in the sun, without ushers, without anyone to monitor what is happening. It could have ended in children suffocating in line, not us, or adults collapsing from dehydration, God forbid.

"On Tisha B'Av, the danger is twofold: not only overcrowding, but also dehydration of many of the fasting immigrants. We issued a written request to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Religions, the Minister of Internal Security and the various Knesset committees. this".

The Ministry of Religious Affairs responded: "The entire compound is the responsibility of the Prime Minister's Office." In the Prime Minister's Office, we were referred to the Ministry of Internal Security, which referred us to the police.

The police said: "Visits to the Temple Mount are possible in accordance with the instructions of the political echelon. The police are physically protecting the applicants, and their right to go up and visit the place safely. On Jerusalem Day there was no life-threatening overcrowding, and we are preparing for Tisha B'Av."
