In the south of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, a brown bear was proven to be on the move.

It is unclear whether it is the same animal that recently roamed the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.

- A brown bear has demonstrably found its way to the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.

As reported by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, a wildlife camera photographed the animal south of the B307 near Lake Sylvenstein last weekend.

The last evidence of a brown bear in Bavaria comes from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district at the end of April and beginning of May.

The bear also moved near a residential area in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.

The LfU has also summarized rules of conduct for encounters with bears.

"If you see a bear, show respect and keep your distance." It is recommended that you use calm speech and slow arm movements to draw the bear's attention to you.

"Don't try to scare the bear away.

Don't throw branches or stones at him.

Keep an eye on the bear and retreat slowly and in a controlled manner.”

For Plochmann, the sighting is no cause for excitement.

"The bear is probably somewhere else." It is important to report the sightings so that all land users are informed.

According to the state office, the nearest bear population is in Trentino, Italy, about 120 kilometers from Bavaria.
