(CNN Spanish) --

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office reported that it is investigating the death of a woman under the femicide protocol, who died on Tuesday from the burns she suffered when she was attacked with alcohol and fire.

The attack, according to the official statement, occurred on Saturday in the municipality of Zapopan, where police and medical services attended to the victim, who was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

The Prosecutor's Office reported that the victim had filed a previous complaint for the crime of threats against a man whom he identified as his neighbor, a precedent that is followed as one of the lines of investigation.

CNN requested information from the prosecution regarding the identity of the victim, what happened with the previous investigation folder, the follow-up that was given to the case and the protection of the woman, but so far we have not received a response.

The Prosecutor's Office did not identify the victim, but Mily Cruz, a member of the "Yo Cuido" collective, confirmed to CNN that the description of the Prosecutor's Office coincides with the case of her personal friend Luz Raquel Padilla Gutiérrez, also a member of "Yo Cuido", and that he had documented the threats he had suffered on his social networks.

On May 17, Padilla Gutiérrez published a series of photographs showing inscriptions on the walls of his building with phrases such as "I'm going to burn you alive."

The photos of her are accompanied by a message of her asking the authorities for help and saying that her neighbor attacked her with industrial chlorine that damaged her breast.

“I have already filed the complaint, but they do nothing to protect me, I am afraid for my life and that of my family,” Padilla Gutiérrez wrote.

Cruz, Padilla Gutiérrez's friend, told CNN that she was facing a conflict with neighbors apparently due to the noises caused by Bruno, an eleven-year-old autistic boy, the victim's son.

Cruz also said that the protection of which the authorities speak in the statement had recently been withdrawn and that it was a restraining order for the alleged aggressor.

Through communiqués, various groups such as CLADEM and "Yo Cuido México" spoke out to demand justice.

One of these groups, CLADEM, said in its statement that they are concerned about the significant increase in violence against women in Jalisco, particularly those that have to do with acid, corrosive or flammable substances against women.
