Again, a discussion about the ice rink sparked between the city council members.
In view of the current heat wave and climate change, the topic is absurd, said Theresa Hannig.
Fürstenfeldbruck – The Green Woman demanded that the ice rink be buried immediately.
On Wednesday evening, the air with a temperature of more than 30 degrees wafted through the main street - and the heat did not stop in front of the meeting room in the town hall.
In the hall, the – rather frosty – topic of the ice rink heated up the minds of the planning and construction committee.
"It's extremely frustrating," said Theresa Hannig (Greens).
"Today we have the hottest day of the year and we are discussing the ice rink."
On the soccer field
On the agenda was, among other things, a resolution after a development plan for the ice rink should be drawn up on the football field site next to the Amperoase.
"We are right in the middle of climate change," said Theresa Hannig, turning to her city council colleagues: "Please consider: if it weren't 34 but 44 degrees today, would we be talking about the same topic?"
She asked Martin Brenner, Mayor of Burgau, how high the power consumption of the ice rink there was.
"If you operate from October to March, you get 300,000 kilowatt hours per year there," said Hannig.
That corresponds to the annual consumption of a hundred standard households.
Taking the next step towards the ice rink is not right.

"We can't make any exceptions now," said the Green woman.
She criticized the fact that the course is already being set when it is already known that the future will be a disaster in terms of climate technology.
Her son asked her in the morning if it would always be this hot now.
"I didn't have an answer to that, dear colleagues," said Hannig.
She called for the topic of the ice rink to be buried as a whole, "in view of our children".
Abolition of ice sports?
Alexa Zierl (ÖDP) said: "I fight for the children too." But she said to Theresa Hannig: "I think you should be so fair and not question the ice rink, but ask the question directly about the abolition of ice sports in Fürstenfeldbruck. ”Your colleague should make it clear that ice sports are not possible for climate protection reasons.

She, in turn, advocated covering the existing ice surface next to the Amperoase.
"We're now pumping out energy without end," said Alexa Zierl.
“Currently, the location is an open refrigerator there.” This must be closed immediately.
Even if he had to agree with Theresa Hannig on many things, the proportionality of this discussion was not given, said Christian Götz (BBV).
"It's about making a decision to build an ice rink." It would be interesting to know how much energy you save if you close the fridge.
Halle towards climate neutrality?
He too had hesitated for a long time whether he was for or against an ice rink.
If you equip it with a PV system on the roof, the ice rink could possibly go in the direction of climate neutrality.
“The energy that it consumes during operation could possibly be recovered in the summer months by feeding it in on the roof.
The rink is then out of order.” In the end, a well-designed ice rink uses a fraction of the energy that an open area uses, says the BBV man.
Against two votes, the committee commissioned the administration to draw up a development plan for the area next to the Amperoase.
At the request of the chairman of the meeting and second mayor Christian Stangl, it was held against four votes that a future ice rink should be built with a climate-neutral balance sheet.
