There is still room in the new line of the X970: the express bus from Bad Tölz via Geretsried, Wolfratshausen to Starnberg is to be optimized and advertised.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Starnberg – The X970 express bus line is to be expanded to include additional stations.
"Further stops will be added when the timetable changes," announced Matthias Schmid, head of the local public transport department at the Tölz district office, on Friday during a press tour of the Starnberg and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen districts.
Express bus X970 from Bad Tölz via Geretsried, Wolfratshausen to Starnberg is to be optimized
Since December, the new bus, which is subsidized by the Free State, has been heading to the train stations in Bad Tölz, Wolfratshausen and Starnberg every 20 minutes.
He drives via Geretsried, Icking/Dorfen and Berg.
There are twelve stations in total.
"We saw that time allowed us to head for other bus stops," explained Schmid.
The offer should be optimized in the sense of the passengers.
The public transport expert has not yet announced which stations will be added to the timetable change in December.
The city of Geretsried in particular has high hopes.
The bus stops there, among other things, "Am Stern" on the Sudetenstraße.
However, there is a desire to move the stop to the intersection with Richard-Wagner-Strasse.
There the passengers could change to the city bus.
In addition, "we could build a better infrastructure there," said Geretsried Mayor Michael Müller.
For example, there would be space for bicycle racks.
"Of course, it is a matter of weighing up where we can achieve the greater potential for passengers," said the head of the town hall.
The districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Starnberg want to make the X970 express bus better known
For some, the route of the express bus causes amazement.
He does not head for the central bus station in Bad Tölz and drives via Dietramszell/Einöd, but not via Königsdorf.
According to Schmid, the background to this decision was to meet the goal of connecting the stations at attractive intervals.
Actually, rail lines would be justified between the outer branches.
"The line would have what it takes to be a railway line," emphasized Tölz District Administrator Josef Niedermaier.
In addition to optimizing the stops, the two districts are faced with a second task: to make the offer better known.
"It's not in our heads yet," said Starnberg's District Administrator Stefan Frey.
