In the Ukraine war, Russian ex-president and Putin confidante Medvedev threatened Ukraine with “disappearing from the world map”.

Munich – Russian threats have almost become part of everyday life in the Ukraine war.

Around five months after the start of the Russian war of aggression, politicians in Moscow openly question the state sovereignty and existence of Ukraine.

So does Dmitry Medvedev, ex-president and current deputy head of the Russian Security Council.

The close confidante of Russian ruler Vladimir Putin has repeatedly made headlines with new threats, especially in recent weeks.

Now he warned that Ukraine could “disappear from the world map”.

Ukraine-News: Medvedev threatens Ukraine - 'could disappear from the world map'

Medvedev on Thursday

(July 21)

published in the short message service Telegram a list of 11 points intended to show the "sins" of the West "for which Russia is not to blame".

The penultimate point on Medvedev's list is: "The fact that, as a result of everything that has happened, Ukraine could lose the remains of state sovereignty and disappear from the world map."

The neighboring country lost most of its “state independence” back in 2014 when it placed itself under the “direct control of the collective West,” claimed Medvedev, who was Russia’s president from 2008 to 2012.

At the time, Ukraine believed "that NATO would ensure its security."

In addition, Medvedev threatened that Russia would bring "Ukrainian criminals to justice for the atrocities committed against the people of Ukraine and Russia."

The ex-Russian president is likely to be referring to the Ukrainian government around President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In his message on Telegram, he appropriately spoke of the “Kiev regime”.

Medvedev also targeted the entire West, including NATO, the EU and the USA, with several allegations.

Right at the beginning of his message, he spoke of "European fools" who had been deceived by the United States.

Therefore, the European people must now endure the "most painful consequences" of the sanctions against Russia.

Also with a view to the impending gas crisis, Medvedev emphasized that it will be "bitterly cold" in European houses in winter.

He also referred to inflation in the EU and the US and Western companies that had lost "investments worth billions".

The Russian ex-president also accused the EU of having "lost touch with reality".

The EU is forcing Ukrainians to sacrifice their lives to join the EU.

He described US President Joe Biden as a "strange grandfather with dementia" who forgot his duties.

At the same time, Medvedev apparently warned of the danger of a world war, also with a view to the expansion of NATO.

Thus, the defense alliance "contrary to logic and common sense" continues to approach the Russian borders.

This creates a "real danger of a global conflict and the death of a significant part of humanity," said the Putin confidant.

In connection with Finland and Sweden joining NATO, Medvedev had previously threatened to station nuclear weapons near the Scandinavian countries.

Like Medvedev, the head of the Russian parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, also criticized the United States.

He accused US President Biden of wanting to continue the war "to the last Ukrainian" out of his own interests and of preventing a peaceful settlement in the Donbass.

"And Ukraine, meanwhile, has lost its sovereignty and is on the brink of self-dissolution," Volodin wrote.

Russia has criticized Western arms shipments - especially from the US - as a senseless continuation of the war in Ukraine.
