The giant panda "An An", who accompanied Hong Kong people for 23 years, has continued to deteriorate in health recently. He died of "euthanasia" this morning at the age of 35.

Looking back on An An's life, he was born in Sichuan in 1986, and was rescued from the wild to the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center. In March 1999, he and "Jia Jia" were sent to Hong Kong as a gift from the central government to celebrate the second anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

Before coming to Hong Kong, An An also went to Singapore on a "business trip", where he lived in a local zoo for half a year, and was honored as a "Panda Ambassador".

However, An An's health has deteriorated recently, suffering from high blood pressure, arthritis and cataracts. In 2018, she underwent lens removal surgery related to glaucoma.

And every summer, An An's appetite is prone to instability.

In addition, An An's semen was sent to Wolong for artificial insemination. In 2004, An An, who was 18 years old at the time, has entered middle-aged and elderly, but she is still "old and stronger" and gave birth to the giant panda "Rong Rong".

The giant pandas An An and Jia Jia arrived in Hong Kong on March 11, 1999, and have been living in the Ocean Park "Sichuan Treasures Museum" for many years.

However, since Jia Jia was already over 60 years old when she came to Hong Kong, An An was about 30 years old, so An An and Jia Jia have been living apart since they settled in Ocean Park.

When the Ocean Park Giant Panda Pavilion opened in May 1999, then State Councilor Wu Yi also went to Hong Kong to attend the ceremony. The then Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa said in his speech: "The arrival of giant pandas in Hong Kong also means that Hong Kong is like 'An An' and 'Jia Jia'. With the same name, we will continue to be stable and prosperous, and achieve good results.” In 2016, Jiajia’s health deteriorated sharply, and the Ocean Park veterinarian arranged for her to be euthanized at the age of 38.

An An turned 35 last year, equivalent to about 105 human years, making him the world's longest-lived male giant panda in captivity.

A giant panda living in the wild generally has a lifespan of about 20 years, while in captivity it can reach 30 years old. An An, who is 35 years old, can be described as a "hundred-year-old bear Rui".

However, Ocean Park pointed out in July this year that An An suffered from loss of appetite and lacked the energy to meet with the public. So far, he passed away by euthanasia.

Ocean Park described An An as being agile, active and intelligent; her body is large, and her face is square and broad.

An An's favorite foods include bamboo leaves, bamboo shoots, fruits and vegetables, and high-fiber biscuits. However, due to the deterioration of her health in recent years, the nurses will add high-fiber biscuits or fruit pieces to high-fiber biscuits for An An to swallow.

In the season when its appetite is not good, the caregiver will also specially prepare bamboo leaf buns made of cooked sweet potatoes and chopped bamboo leaves to encourage it to eat more bamboo leaves.

As for An An's hobby on weekdays, playing with shredded paper also eats bamboo while lying down.

Since An An has wild panda genes and is very precious, his semen was also sent to Wolong for artificial insemination. By 2004, An An, who was 18 years old at the time, was about 50 years old, but he was still "one-shot" , gave birth to the giant panda "Rong Rong" who now lives in Sichuan.

The restless An An bit a female care worker in 2008. After investigation, Ocean Park believed that An An instinctively thought that the care worker had stepped into its territory, so she attacked her, which is believed to be an isolated incident.

Ocean Park's first-generation giant pandas, An An and Jia Jia, have passed away one after another. At present, there are the remaining giant pandas "Yingying" and "Lele" in the park that were donated to Hong Kong by the Central Government in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the return of the motherland. Ocean Park has always hoped that the two couples would be happy together. Panda added the first "Hong Kong-made Panda B" to Hong Kong, but it has not been successful so far.

The 105-year-old giant panda An An regains his appetite and eats bamboo and drinking water. Ocean Park calls on citizens to renew their breath. Giant panda An An has lost his appetite for two weeks and has not appeared in the Ocean Park at the exhibition hall: let’s cheer up Ocean Park’s collapse crisis | Killing Garden and An Anshengli [Jia Jia passed away] gave birth to 6 children, a total of 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and An Anfei couple [Jia Jia passed away] The ashes were scattered into the soil near the former residence and turned into spring mud to nourish the ginkgo tree Giant panda Jiajia bones and fur preserved For research, raise the remaining cremated ashes to nourish the memorial tree
