Prince George shows off his biggest boyish smile in new 9th birthday portrait

Kate Middleton had the finger on the trigger, continuing the tradition of showing a new shot of her eldest every year.

Royal fans were eagerly awaiting the new photo.

London – Prince William (40) and Kate Middleton (40) did not let the friends of the popular tradition of publishing a new picture of Prince George (9) on his birthday unnecessarily fidget every year.

A day before his birthday on July 22, they make the latest shot available on their Instagram account.

The picture shows the presumably future king on his vacation at the beginning of Monday.

"George turns 9 years old" is the simple caption of the gorgeous shot on Instagram, which the Duchess of Cambridge has identified as a birthday post with a birthday cake icon and a balloon emoji just to be on the safe side.

It is not known exactly where the family was on holiday, but it is likely that the picture was taken by the sea near the Anmer Hall country estate.

Prince George shows his mother's warm smile and is otherwise confusingly similar to his father Prince William.

In the blue polo shirt, he grins happily at the camera, behind which Kate acts as the photographer.

The mother-of-three also shows the development of her adorable children at the birthdays of Prince George's younger siblings, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis.

"What a handsome boy!", "He looks more and more like William" were the most common fan comments, along with lots of congratulations.

Ever since George was one, the Duchess has continued the tradition of annual portraits

Kate, who also photographed the cover shoot for Duchess Camilla's 75th birthday for Country Life magazine, also transports background information in her photos.

So one could understand Georg's portrait last year as a hidden homage to Prince Philip (99, † 2021) his great-grandfather.

Kate showed her little prince on a Land Rover, the declared favorite car of Queen Elizabeth II's (96) late husband, whose coffin was even transported to the resting place on a custom-made vehicle.

Exciting times are about to begin for George and his siblings as they move from Kensington Palace to Berkshire, believed to be Adeleide Cottage on the Windsor estate.

The ducal couple are following considerations of giving their children more freedom, but also to be close to the elderly monarch to give them more support.

But that also means a change of school for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in the fall.
