No social media for the Taliban - that's what many Afghans in and outside of their country are currently demanding.
With the hashtag #BanTaliban, they call for Twitter to be blocked for militant Islamists.
Since taking power in August 2021, the Taliban have also been using social media for communication.
Many Afghans accuse the new rulers of not respecting human rights and not allowing freedom of expression.
“Ban the Taliban from Twitter because they ban girls from education,” demands one user.
Contrary to their promises, the Taliban have closed secondary schools for girls.
A UN report published on Wednesday also reported on the persecution, torture and killings by the Taliban of journalists, human rights activists and suspected resistance fighters.
On Wednesday, social networks Facebook and Instagram blocked their pages from Taliban news channels.
The Taliban criticized the move as "violating free speech" and called for the ban to be lifted.
