Six years ago, on July 22, 2016, nine people died in a racist attack.

Relatives and survivors are left behind, struggling with their grief and pain.

"He was a good person.

Guiliano grew up with me.

I accompanied him, his way to school, his apprenticeship.

On the last day we sat together in the kitchen and ate.”

Gisela Kollmann fights back tears and pain when she talks about her grandson.

"I always miss him.

Every day.” He loved music, rapped, she says.

He played football.

Always been there for his grandma and grandpa.

Nine people died in the attack, which was motivated by right-wing extremists

On July 22, 2016, Guiliano Kollmann (19) was murdered in the right-wing extremist attack at the Olympia Shopping Center (OEZ).

With him died Armela Segashi (14), Can Leyla (14), Dijamant Zabërgja (20), Hüseyin Dayck (17), Roberto Rafael (15), Sabina S. (14), Selçuk Klç (15) and Sevda Dag (45 ).

To mark the anniversary, relatives, survivors and their supporters organized a rally and funeral march on Friday.

Several hundred people mourn at Odeonsplatz

Several hundred people gathered at 2 p.m. on Odeonsplatz.

The impressions there get under your skin.

The signs with the photos of the murdered, the tears, the silence.

Relatives hold speeches, remember their loved ones.

Your concerns: correct clarification, correct processing.

And: That Munich remembers.

"I want people to know what happened in the OEZ.

A lot of people don't know anymore.” That the sadness is still there.

And that she stays, says Gisela Kollmann.

Bereaved and survivors criticize the authorities

The criticism of the bereaved weighs heavily: It took far too long for the city and the authorities to recognize that it was a racist attack.

For far too long, the bereaved had to fight to ensure that the act was not counted as a rampage, as the act of a confused person.

But as a racially motivated assassination attempt by the 18-year-old perpetrator David S. He specifically sought his victims.

Shortly before Guiliano died, he changed his Whatsapp status: "We're not all rich, but we all bleed the same."

"A social tragedy."

Only a few years ago, the memorial on Hanauer Strasse read: In memory of the victims of the racist attack on July 22, 2016.

"That's a sentence that many people had to fight for," says one speaker.

The mother of the murdered Can Leyla also speaks at Odeonsplatz this Friday: “These are not personal fates.

It's a social tragedy.” Looking the other way, listening the other way, ignoring – that shouldn't be the case.

"These children belonged to Germany."

The demand of those affected: The attack must be included in the collective memory as a right-wing act of terrorism.

The train goes from Odeonsplatz to Stiglmaierplatz, stopping at the NS Documentation Center in between.

Again and again the names of the murdered echo through the streets: Armela, Can, Dijamant, Guiliano, Hüseyin, Roberto, Sabina, Selçuk, Sevda.
