They are gifts that the federal government has received during state visits.
Some gifts from the past legislative period are now being auctioned off in Nuremberg.
Nuremberg – From oil sheikhs or heads of state and politicians from foreign countries: in Nuremberg, gifts for the federal government are currently being auctioned off in an online auction.
"Unfortunately, we don't know which president brought which chancellor the gift on which occasion," explains Maximilian Fulde from
Restlos.com
.
According to Fulde, this is probably also the intention.
One wants to avoid diplomatic upsets.
You can bid on vases, ceramics and sculptures from all over the world on the online auction platform until the end of July.
State gifts auctioned in Nuremberg: Porsche 911 model included
In a press release, the platform describes the objects as “exotic noble souvenirs” and “state-supporting souvenirs”.
Among other things, there is a golden falcon from Arabia, on which 19 commandments have already been placed.
The price is currently (as of July 21, 1:50 p.m.) at 600 euros.
A glass vase from China apparently does not arouse people's interest, its price is still at the starting price of 100 euros.
"In addition to exotic gifts from foreign heads of state to German top politicians, small tributes from well-known global corporations to the Berlin government are also sold to the highest bidder." This also applies to a Porsche 911 model, which is currently priced at 170 euros.
It is made of 925 sterling silver and bears the inscription "Der Betriebsrat Dr.
Ing. hc F. Porsche AG“.
A model railway is also among the treasures.
The three-piece "Piko ICE BR collection set" is currently still 75 euros.
All objects can be viewed in the offices of
restlos.com
in Nuremberg (Kilianstraße 142).
However, only with prior appointment booking.

Top politicians are not allowed to simply keep gifts – they are therefore often auctioned off
The legal situation regarding state gifts states that the souvenirs belong to the federal government.
Politicians can therefore only keep them if they officially acquire them.
"Otherwise, the representative pieces of jewelery are exhibited in ministries, for example, disappear in the evidence room or, as is currently the case, are auctioned off with the highest bidder," it continues.
After the auction, the successful bidders can pick up the objects in Nuremberg.
