In an interview, the graduate administrator, who was also active on the state board of Freie Wahler and as treasurer of the Children's Villages Association, explains how life has brought him to Munich in the meantime and why he would have liked to have returned to the district much earlier.

Interview: Felix Stahl is the new Managing Director in Fischbachau
Mr. Stahl, after years in Munich you have now moved back to the formative place of your childhood. How do you feel?
I first moved to the Irschenberg Children's Village on February 1, 1984.
My mother was a single parent and self-employed in the fashion industry.
At that time, childcare facilities were not as available as they are now.
She was looking for a place to put me;
a friend recommended the children's village to her.
I stayed there for about ten years until I moved into assisted living.
Now I'm living here again in a small apartment and I'm happy: I don't need more;
the children's village is my home and family.
Nevertheless, you worked in Munich for a long time.
Actually I wanted to go to the police after the FOS/BOS.
When that broke up for health reasons, my mentoring teacher asked if internal administration would be something for me.
So I applied across Bavaria.
That was in 1998. Even then I wanted to stay in the Miesbach area.
However, it was difficult to find suitable training positions here.
The state capital offered me a dual study program, so I went to Munich.
After a maximum of five years, I wanted to return to the district, but there were no vacancies.
When I saw the tender for Fischbachau, I took the opportunity.

Johann Neundlinger often shows me how he is currently organized, but also gives me the freedom to try out and implement other approaches.
I find that to be a very pleasant working atmosphere.
With Mayor Stefan Deingruber, you can also tell that he used to work in the district office and is a specialist - it makes a big difference when you work with professionals.
The other colleagues are also all very helpful and friendly.
I have a very good first impression.

What management experience from Munich have you brought to Fischbachau?
The primary school in Elbach is to be renovated and expanded.
Since I worked at the Munich District Office on the school construction offensive, I can do a lot to create a good room plan and a good school use plan.
I grabbed this project right away and will be in charge of it.
Fischbachau also suits you because you like hiking. What were your first tours?
After work, I was twice on the road for seven hours: once around the Wendelstein, via the Aiblinger Hütte and the Kesselalm, and once in the classic way via Breitenstein and Bockstein.
That's the great thing about the area: You can go to the mountains and switch off right after work.
Recreational and leisure value are enormous.
Sounds like you could also make friends with an apartment in Fischbachau.
In any case.
Unfortunately, things are not that easy on the housing market in the district.
Especially if you are looking for something small.
