A fire broke out this Friday afternoon in the Fort du Serrat d'en Vaquer sector, south of Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), report Actu Perpignan and France Bleu while Internet users shared photos on social networks impressive smoke.
“The fire is being brought under control,” the firefighters told Le Parisien around 6 p.m.
According to the radio, the fire had covered three hectares of vegetation at 5.30 p.m. and mobilized 120 firefighters as well as a water bomber helicopter.
“I spoke with a firefighter who told me that the fire is now fixed.
There are no more flames, ”says the car wash manager of the Auchan Porte d'Espagne supermarket, located near the start of the fire.
The firefighters also recommend that residents close their windows and not go to the site.
At this stage, no damage or injuries have been observed according to Actu Perpignan.
On social networks, videos show flames and thick black smoke very close to roads, homes and the Auchan Porte d'Espagne supermarket.
