Former Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes was sanctioned by the United States for his alleged involvement in "significant corruption," according to a statement issued by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Cartes and three of his adult children had their US visas revoked.
The former president issued a video on social networks in which he described the accusations as unfounded and unfair.
