Excursions to Bad Tölz, Geretsried, Wolfratshausen and Starnberg are possible with the express bus X970.
The two districts present some ideas.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Starnberg – The Tölzer doesn’t really have Lake Starnberg on their radar – and the route from Geretsried rarely leads to Bad Tölz.
With the X-Bus, the cities move closer together.
For advertising purposes, local politicians, public transport experts and tourism officers embarked on "a great journey through time with a modern means of transport" (Stefan Frey, Starnberg District Administrator) through the two districts on Friday.
The tour in the footsteps of monarchy and customs can be retraced - or individual stations of it.
Excursion tips with the X970 in Starnberg
King Ludwig II and his cousin Sisi, who later became Empress Elisabeth of Austria/Hungary, left their mark in and around Starnberg.
The Society for Economic and Tourism Development (gwt) Starnberg makes the two sovereigns come alive with an audio walk.
"It has the character of a radio play and is nice to listen to," says project manager Isabell Bauch.

Wolfratshausen offers X-Bus passengers rafting history
With a history of more than 1000 years, the city of 19,000 is "older than the state capital", emphasizes Wolfratshausen's Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner.
Rafting played a crucial role for the people on the Loisach.
The oldest document that bears witness to this dates from 1416. Year after year, more trade was carried out - until freight traffic was shifted to the rails.
The Isar Valley Railway also brought many tourists to Wolfratshausen, who liked to raft back to Munich.
City archivist Simon Kalleder likes to tell the anecdote about council minutes from 1912. Apparently, students liked to drink on the rafts and then bathe naked.
"The market was concerned about modesty and imposed a ban on nude swimming on rafts."

Extraordinary origin story of Geretsried
Geretsried is the youngest town in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - and at the same time the largest.
The museum behind the town hall tells the extraordinary story of how the “chocolate factory” in the forest came about.
This lie was told during the Nazi era in order to hide the fact that explosives were being manufactured in the Wolfratshausen forest, explains Anita Zwicknagl, an employee of the cultural office.
After the end of the war, expellees built a new life in the bunkers and brought their customs with them.
The city is currently building the "New Center" in front of the museum.
"Due to the history of its origins, we didn't have a classic town center," says Geretsried's Mayor Michael Müller.

X-Bus stop: When Bad Tölz was home to 23 breweries
Like Wolfratshausen, the spa town also has a rafting history to offer.
So Isarwinkler Holz came to Vienna to build St. Stephen's Cathedral.
But beer was also transported to Munich.
"We had 22 breweries for the public and one for the Franciscans," reports museum director Elisabeth Hinterstocker.
Before the refrigerator was invented, Bad Tölz benefited from its geological composition.
Cellars could be dug relatively inexpensively into the tuff to cool the beer.
Speaking of cooling off: an exhibit that goes back to King Ludwig II can also be found in the Tölz City Museum.
His bathtub, which he was happy to have carried up to the Grammersberg so that he could enjoy the view while splashing around.
