The Hohenburger Realschule dismissed its graduates on Friday morning with a heartwarming ceremony.

Lenggries – With a very harmonious, heartfelt ceremony, the St. Ursula girls' secondary school in Hohenburg Castle said goodbye to 67 girls from three final classes on Friday.

The cohesion and solidarity with the school family was expressed in a variety of ways.

Headmistress Barbara Fischer welcomed not only the parents but also four of her predecessors in office and former mayor Werner Weindl as chairman of the association.

Principal thanks parents: "You entrusted your daughters to us"

"You entrusted your daughters to us," the headmistress thanked the parents for their trust.

Addressing the students, she made it clear that they now have the opportunity “to make their own choices, to define their own goals, to realize their wishes and to find what is right for them”.

Unlike in the previous life, where the path "was clearly mapped out by the parents and the school system".

And she appealed to the young women to “grow towards their goals and also to take personal responsibility – for themselves and others and for the preservation of our environment”.

With the Einstein quote "Never give up what is important to you just because it is not easy", she directed their gaze forward.

The head girl Josephina Kottmair from the 5b did the same by quoting Hermann Hesse's "Every beginning has a magic in it".

Patricia Hoffmann (8a) and Charlotte Zimmermann (9b) spread courage and confidence with the same tenor.

School days compared to a via ferrata: “No one is left behind here”

Leonie Prim and Antonia Kell spoke for the graduates.

The former was moody and away from anything formulaic: "I'm speechless that I made it," she confessed openly and also shot a few lovingly mocking arrows ("What did I actually learn all this for?") against school operations and learning plans .

Antonia Kell compared her Hohenburg school days to a via ferrata: "No one is left behind here, everyone is pulled along", although the times were not exactly the best in view of the corona pandemic and three changes in the school principal.

Four students are awarded for above-average performance

Before the certificates were distributed, Barbara Fischer said goodbye to the parents' council members Astrid Breg and Maria Fischer and thanked them for the "constructive cooperation in difficult times".

She honored four students for their above-average performance - but also Lina Pfund, who set an "extraordinary example of social commitment" for a classmate in need.

Colorful musical program

The Hohenburg School would not be described in full if one were not to address its commitment to music education: the large wind orchestra "Schlossweps'n Musi", the "Schlossquintett" and the highly talented Maria Steinbacher, who graduated from the school in 2020 and now, played to the applause of all those present allowed to study at the "Mozarteum" in Salzburg.
