On video: Congestion and delays following disruptions at Tel Aviv railway stations, February 10, 2022 (Yifat Rosenberg)

Need to arrive during the week from the northern region to the center or vice versa?

Forget about doing it by train, get ready to change a lot of buses, which will add to the expected very large traffic loads.

These will be created by those who choose to travel by private car, because of the paralyzed train from Sunday 7/24 to Saturday 7/30 (inclusive).

During this week, trains from the north will reach Binyamina station and trains from the south will reach Netanya station.

The reason for the suspension of traffic is work on another phase of the Eastern Railway project - an axis that will run parallel to the coastal railway, will add new stations including the first two stations in Arab cities (Taiba and Tira), will reduce the load on the coastal railway and allow better connectivity with the future broad gauge railways in the center as well as allow the transportation of cargo Away from the crowded central roads.

Another advantage of the additional rail is the ability to use it as a replacement for the coastal rail when it is necessary to disable it (similar to what happens today at night and on weekends, when train traffic is stopped due to electrification works).

The alternative for passengers on Israel's main traffic artery will be bus lines.

This time, the suspension of train traffic is due to complex and necessary engineering works at the connection point of the eastern rail to the coastal rail in the Hadera area, mainly the removal of dividers (a technical component whose function is to split an existing rail into additional rails).

The train says that despite the announcement in a relatively short period of time (the announcement was made last Monday), the works were planned in advance for the summer months, when there is a decrease in the number of passengers on the line.

In this case, the main alternative for passengers from Haifa to Tel Aviv will be line 980 from Hafaretz central station to Tel Aviv Savidor Central station, as well as line 901 from Hoof HaCarmel central station to Tel Aviv central station.

For those who will reach Binyamina station, there is line 873 to the central station to Tel Aviv which will also stop at Tel Aviv HaShalom and Tel Aviv Savidor stations.

The Haifa Tel Aviv line is the busiest of the train lines and in fact, as far as public transportation is concerned, it is the main traffic artery in Israel.

However, changes and shutdowns have also been made in the last few weeks in the rest of the country - for example, in the movement of trains in the Herzliya and Tel Aviv area. There, every Thursday at 21:00 until Sunday, the station is closed for the purpose of preparatory work for the completion of the electrification works of the suburban line. The closing of the station also leads to disruptions on several lines A train that is supposed to end the trip, or of course leave from it.

The disruptions in regular train operations are not only focused on Israel Railways projects, but also on interfaces between it and overlapping public transportation infrastructures.

In the case of the Petah Tikva-Kiryat Aryeh station, these are the works to connect the train station with the Dankel station - the light rail - whose Red Line departure station is located nearby.

There, from July 15 to August 8, platform 2 at the station is closed, therefore trains coming from the direction of Tel Aviv to Herzliya will not stop at the station.

Since the train continues to operate as a series at Petah Tikva Segula station, the train operates a free shuttle service between Kiryat Aryeh station and Petach Tikva-Segula station.
