Rural Damascus Telecom: Telephone services return to 5900 subscribers after being suspended due to the theft of telephone cables

Damascus Countryside, SANA- The Director of Communications in Damascus Countryside, Eng. Hussein Oweiti, explained that telephone services have been restored to 5900 .

The Director of Communications in Damascus Countryside, Eng. Hussein Oweiti, explained that the telephone services were restored to 5,900 subscribers after the company's technical staff completed the maintenance of 54.72 percent of the telecommunications networks that were stolen by unknown persons.

In a statement to SANA’s reporter, Aweiti explained that telephone and internet services stopped for 10,781 subscribers, following the theft of telephone cables in the governorate’s communication centers, as 4,200 telephone lines went out of service in Babila, 4,500 in Sayeda Zainab, 276 in Kafr al-Awamid, 200 in Beit Jinn, and 205 telephone lines were suspended. Telephone lines in Harasta and 1,400 lines in Hafir al-Fouqa, indicating that the cadres made double efforts to restore those services.

Oweiti pointed out that the technical cadres continue to work to maintain the telephone networks that have been subjected to infringement and theft in the various regions and villages of the governorate, respectively, until all subscribers are returned to service, noting the role of the local community in protecting telecommunication networks by reporting any suspicious movements around their locations, as they were found mainly with the aim of providing the service to them.

Oweiti called for the need to take strict measures against aggressors on public property.
