Former member of the Verkhovna Rada Ilya Kiva revealed that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has commissioned the Ukrainian Oil Company to study the possibility of stealing Russian gas from transit pipelines to Europe to meet his country's needs.
"Yesterday, Zelensky presented to the leadership of the Ukrainian company "Naftogaz" the task of preparing a plan in order to study the possibilities and repercussions of the unauthorized taking of Russian gas that is transported to Europe via Ukraine," Kiva was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying on his Telegram page.
The former Ukrainian parliamentarian pointed out that there is now only half of the gas necessary for spending the winter season in Ukrainian gas depots. That is why Zelensky expresses his readiness to violate his country's international obligations, and therefore a decision was made about the possibility of theft.
In this regard, RIA Novosti pointed out that the Russian company, "Gazprom", is currently continuing to transport gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory in a normal system according to the existing contract, which expires in 2024, and through the "Soga" station, more than 40 million cubic meters are pumped per day.
