The international food retail chain SPAR has signed a document of intent and representation (LOI) with the former CEO of Beitan Wines, Amit Zeev, in preparation for its launch in Israel under a franchise agreement.

The Dutch chain intends to bring with it a unique international shopping experience and will work to make the best products in the world accessible at fair and significantly cheaper prices than is customary in Israel.

SPAR, which operates in a local franchise model, is currently active in 48 countries, through 13,623 stores worldwide serving 14.5 million customers daily, with an annual sales turnover in 2021 of approximately 41.2 billion euros.

Model SPAR's operation is based on an efficient and seamless supply chain working closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure an attractive value proposition for retailers and offer consumers choice, value, freshness and service.

SPAR was founded in the Netherlands in 1932 by Adrian van Wall and has an average annual growth rate of 5.1%.

The international retail giant has recorded an increase of over 10 billion euros in its annual turnover since 2015 and is expected to reach, according to forecasts, a turnover of 50 billion euros in 2025.

In the last five years, SPAR has opened 840 stores worldwide.

He later managed am:pm and ended up as the CEO of the group. In the past he managed the operations of Nike stores in Israel as well as the GAP fashion company in Israel and Hungary within the Gotex group (Zara Israel).
