The life of caring for a recovered person is never easy, and the pressure on carers cannot be ignored.

Some organizations implement the caregiver peer service to assess the family crisis of service users and the level of service needs, and provide psychological counseling. We call on the public to take advantage of today (24th) to support this group of carers of the rehabilitated people, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Cheer up.

St. James' Settlement has been donated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to implement a three-year project "The Jockey Club's "Jockey's Settlement Project - St. James' Settlement and Love Walk Support Service". Provide targeted support services to reduce the pressure of care and facilitate the smooth transition of school-leavers with intellectual disabilities to adult services.

Even though Susan is under the pressure of caring, she insists on taking good care of her son every day.

One of the service users, Ms. Chen (pseudonym), is a single mother who takes care of an adult daughter with mental retardation and autism by herself. After graduation, her daughter will be waiting to serve at the Day Center. The matter is already high, and I can't afford to take my daughter to and from the center every day, so I have no choice but to stop using the service.

As a result, her daughter needed to stay at home to take care of her. Ms. Chen described the pressure as enormous, "I feel really hard, and there is no one around to help me." I have to take my daughter with me. Even if I feel unwell, I have to take care of my daughter's daily life, let alone have my own breathing space.

Another single mother, Susan, needs to take care of her two adult sons with intellectual disabilities and autism by herself. After graduation, the eldest son will receive subsidized residential care services through the priority allocation mechanism soon after graduation, while the younger son will receive daytime care after graduation from the special school. Exhibition Center Services.

Unable to rest for a long time, confessed that he had thought of suicide

Susan, who thought she could breathe a sigh of relief, was emotionally unstable because her eldest son had not been able to adapt to dormitory life, and went in and out of the psychiatric hospital many times. Susan decided to temporarily take her eldest son home to live in; Being able to receive services at the daytime energy center as usual, Susan is now the only child at home to take care of her two sons. She acts as a caregiver around the clock. Not only is she unable to rest, but it is also difficult to go out to buy daily necessities. She admits that during the most difficult days, I used to have thoughts of suicide.

Ms. Chen and Susan subsequently accepted the "Jockey Club "Joyful Care" Project - St. James' Settlement and Love Walk Support Service" respectively. Their family crisis and service need levels were rated as high needs, and they were immediately provided with Psychological counselling services.

Regarding the situation of Ms. Chen's daughter, she provided home-based training services, including some hand muscle training, brushing and washing her face, etc., to improve her self-care ability; she also assisted Ms. Chen in taking her daughter out to relieve her physical labor and psychological pressure.

On the other hand, the plan also provides home-based training for Susan's eldest son, teaching him how to control his emotions and self-care training, during which Susan can buy time to go out to handle personal affairs and "sore".

Both said that after their children received the service, their mood was significantly more stable than before, and the home-based service gave them a real breathing space.

The plan is to take advantage of today, July 24, to appeal to the public to cheer on the caregivers of the rehabilitated persons who are working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For example, caregivers who meet people with intellectual disabilities on the street can say "Come on"; When they encounter difficulties in caring for their mentally handicapped family members, they can understand their needs and lend a helping hand, and maintain an appropriate distance so that they have enough space to deal with the problem and avoid causing them to feel more pressure.

As for weekdays, they should also contact the caregiver with a normal mind and friendly eyes.

The elderly suffer from cognitive impairment and become "children". The organization designs a Webapp to help caregivers record symptoms. The survey reveals that women caregivers have deteriorated physically and mentally due to the epidemic. Organizations call on women to know how to love themselves. : I don't know when I can't take care of my sister
