The leader of the extreme right-wing party "Brothers of Italy" is expected to become the next prime minister of Italy, amid the political chaos in the country.
Georgia Maloney, whose party includes Il Duce's granddaughter Benito Mussolini as a councilor in Rome, is leading the polls ahead of a snap election likely to be held in the fall.
Prime Minister Mario Draghi resigned last week due to the non-support of three coalition partners in his government in a vote of no confidence.
President Sergio Mattarella accepted the resignation and asked Draghi to continue serving as interim prime minister until the elections.
Maloney, 45, called for immediate elections after Draghi's resignation.

Maloni, who was born in 1977 in Rome, was the youngest minister in the history of Italy when she was chosen to serve as the Minister of Youth during the tenure of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
She left the center-left coalition three years later in 2011.
Maloney has been the leader of the nationalist populist party "Brothers of Italy" since 2014, and has served as president of the Conservative and Reformist Party of Europe since 2020.
In 1992, at the age of 15, Maloney joined the youth movement of the nationalist conservative party MSI.
She founded the student organization Gli Antenati and in 1996 was appointed the leader of the Student Action movement of the National Alliance party.
That same year she received a matriculation certificate from the Amerigo Vespucci Institute.
During these years Meloni worked as a nanny for children, a waitress and a bartender at the "Piper Club", one of the most famous night clubs in Rome.
In 1998, after the Conservative Party won the primaries, she was elected as a member of the party in the district of Rome, and held the position until 2002. In 2004, she was appointed the first female president of Youth Action.

Its policy includes, among other things, the imposition of a naval blockade on the coast of North Africa to prevent migrants from reaching Italy.
Maloney also supports financial incentives for couples to have more children, to make Italy independent of immigrant labor.
However, she opposes the adoption of children by same-sex couples.
The percentage of support for Maloney and her party jumped from 4% in 2018 in the general elections to about 22% today.
Maloney, seen as a spiritual successor to Mussolini, called the European Union a "failure" and adopted a soft stance toward Russia, but has changed her mind since the invasion of Ukraine.
She also supports changing the Italian constitution in order to prioritize Italian law over European law.
Maloni is known for her ambition to make history in Italian politics by becoming the country's first female prime minister.
"The will of the people is expressed in one way: by the vote. Let's give hope and make Italy stronger again," she previously said.
"We will win until the Italian people get back the right that all citizens living in democracies have: the freedom to choose their representatives" she said after the collapse of the government.
