Fight on the beach:

After the 25-year lease period between the restaurant owners and the Rishon Lezion Municipality ended, the Supreme Court today (Sunday) rejected the appeal filed by the restaurant owners at the 'Disabled Beach' in Israel. The Central District Court confirmed the intention of the Israel Lands Authority Evacuate the restaurants from the beach by October 31st.

In recent weeks, the restaurant owners started a protest, with the aim of harnessing the public to their aid.

Among other things, every evening at 21:00, the beach is darkened for a few minutes by all the restaurant owners, and a recording is played to those present in which they are called to mobilize in protest and prevent the evacuation.

"This is not a technical fault and the lights will be turned on in a minute, but at the end of the holiday, the restaurants on the beach will really close and the disabled and retired public in Rishon will go into great darkness. They will remain without access to the beach, without restaurants, without accessibility. Don't let Rishon Beach die," the recording said.

In a condolence notice distributed in the last two weeks in the coastal area, which has been used for years by the disabled, the elderly and families, it is written: "With great sadness and gloomy grief we announce the passing of a place of entertainment / a place accessible to all / a good atmosphere of the sea."

A petition promoted by protest activists has already been signed by more than 2,000 people.

Revital Nega, the owner of the 4x4 restaurant at the Handicapped Beach, said: "On October 31, no one will have anywhere to come. Not to the elderly, not to the disabled, not to families. We provide service to the general public. Not only to the residents of Rishon Lezion. It's an accessible and orderly beach, there There is parking here for the disabled who can come to the beach and sit in the first row on the water. Elderly people come here from all over the country. All this will not be in three months. We hope that someone will lift the glove and help us postpone the evil of the decree."

The criticism of the restaurateurs on the beach is also directed at the Rishon LeZion municipality, due to the fact that it did not settle the lease issue with the Israel Land Authority.

"The buildings on the beach were built legally, we pay taxes and property taxes. The closing of the restaurants means a loss of livelihood for hundreds of families," Reuital added.
