Together We Protect You.. Awareness Seminar for Mothers of Children with Disabilities in Abu Rummaneh Cultural

Damascus, SANA- Under the title (Together with You), the Lammt Hope Volunteer Team, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, held a cultural symposium today, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.

Under the title (Together We Protect You), the volunteer team of Lamat Amal, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, held a cultural, psychological and awareness symposium for mothers of children with disabilities, at the Arab Cultural Center in Damascus.

The main axes of the symposium focused on addressing bullying faced by persons with disabilities and the way to confront it, introducing mothers to how to deal with their children and the emotional balance between them, and training them to rely on themselves and learn about their bodies in adulthood.

Rabab Ahmed, director of the center, said in a statement to SANA that the symposium focused on the psychological aspect regarding the families of persons with disabilities and providing them with support in this field, noting that the center provides all facilities for volunteer teams to establish activities and events that contribute to supporting persons with disabilities in all fields and in a manner Complimentary.

Rania Mujahid, the media coordinator of the team, explained that people with disabilities need double efforts to care and support them in all fields, pointing out that the symposium aims to answer many of the questions and daily problems facing mothers of persons with disabilities and teach them how to properly deal with these children.

In his turn, Dr. Muhammad Ratib al-Shaar, a lecturer at the University of Damascus (Faculty of Mass Communication), provided, during his participation in the symposium, clarifications about bullying and effective response to dealing with it, differentiating between it and criticism, how to deal with cases of abuse to which persons with disabilities are exposed, and differentiating between violence directed at abuse and unintended violence, noting that the most important A mechanism for responding to bullying is awareness and perception that the results are positive and significant.

For her part, Ghufran Al-Sharif, Director of the Syrian Training Center, indicated the importance of self-development for parents of children with disabilities, motivating them and modifying their developmental behavior so that they have the desire and motivation to reflect on their children so that they have a great role in society and not isolate them from their surroundings, while Iman Moghadam, a trainer in the field of education of persons with disabilities, pointed out To the importance of raising awareness among mothers to pay attention to their children and raise them to be socially and behaviorally normal in the future.

Mayada Helala, mother of a child with a disability, pointed out the importance of the symposium on how to deal with children and the positive ideas that were presented to deal with this group, which must be transformed into a societal behavior that goes beyond the sympathetic looks that some look at people with disabilities, while Sabah Moradani, a mother, also saw that Mothers of children with disabilities must accept and support their children and discover their talents in a way that contributes to their being active people in the future.

It is noteworthy that the Lammt Hope Volunteer Team was launched in 2015 and aims to support persons with disabilities and help them achieve an effective social presence.
