Val-d'Oise: blocks of chalk fall from the cliff in Haute-Isle

A 20 m2 block of chalk and other smaller ones broke away from the cliff and ended their race at the foot of the small town hall in the village of Haute-Isle, on the road, after rolling down the slope, at the start of 'afternoon.

The collapse occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Several blocks broke off and ultimately caused little damage.

Only one garage was hit by one of them.

The collapse did not cause any casualties and did not affect any vehicle on this tourist route which sees many motorists, bikers and cyclists pass during the holiday period.

"The heat wave causes landslides"

The firefighters intervened and carried out reconnaissance to assess the dangerousness of the site, in particular at the top of the cliff, from where the blocks would have started, a hundred meters above.

A dangerous environment intervention team and a canine team were mobilized.

The departmental 913, which connects Vétheuil to La Roche-Guyon has been closed to traffic in both directions by the general direction of roads until further notice.

Diversions have been put in place.

Three bus lines are impacted by these traffic restrictions.
