Gali Peleg, the sister of the late Tal Peleg Biran, who was killed in the cable car disaster in Italy a little over a year ago, gave birth to a first-born daughter and named her Shia Tal. In a post she uploaded to Instagram today, she wrote: "We are three.

Welcome to the world of Shia Tal.

Thank you, you made us happy parents.

We are in love with you."

Shia Tal and Eitan Biran are cousins.

7-year-old Eitan, the only survivor of the disaster, made headlines after the two families - both Tal's and her husband Amit's - struggled to raise him.

Six months ago, the family court in Tel Aviv ruled that it will remain in the custody of Aya Biran, Amit's sister, who lives in Pavia, Italy.

The cable car disaster that leads to Mount Motrona in northern Italy happened on May 23, 2021, after the cable pulling the cable car broke just before it entered the station.

The trailer slid backwards and fell from a height of about 40 meters.

14 of the passengers in the train were killed, including Tal, Amit, their little son Tommy, Tal's grandfather and his wife.

After her sister was killed, Gali went to the media and opposed the Italian court's decision to grant guardianship to Aya Byrne.

She asked to adopt Eitan on the grounds that the Byrne family had allegedly committed a kidnapping.

"We will do everything so that it grows in the country," she said.

"Tal never stopped talking about the fact that she wants to return to Israel with her family. There was talk of her returning this year. We are not going to give up on Eitan, we are going to fight for him. My sister's will was indeed oral, and it was to return to live here in Israel."

When the court in Italy did not grant their request, Tal and Gali's father decided to kidnap Eitan from Italy to Israel.

As mentioned, by order of the Israeli court, he was returned to Italy three months later.
