The owner of a Mazda MX-5 has replaced his steering wheel with a Nintendo Wii steering wheel - and with it landed a viral social media hit.

It is mostly rather strange ideas that bring people to global fame in social networks.

For example, a 20-year-old from Arizona cooks and bakes under the windshield of his car - although there are some doubts about the authenticity of his clips.

Another TikTok user is currently successful with a weird idea on the portal: he has equipped his Mazda MX-5 with the steering wheel of a Nintendo Wii - a video of which went viral.

But that was just the beginning of the remodeling.

Not recommended for imitation: A TikToker drives a Mazda MX-5 on public roads with a Wii steering wheel.

Mario Kart Mazda: TikToker drives MX-5 with Wii steering wheel – “TÜV says no”

First, a short TikTok clip by Tyler Atkin - who apparently lives in Great Britain - went viral: It shows how he replaces the steering wheel of his Mazda MX-5 with the steering wheel of a Nintendo Wii games console: More than three million users watched Watch the video, around 220,000 gave the clip a like.

And of course the video is commented diligently: "TÜV says no," someone wrote.

Another jokingly says, "Watch out for the blue tanks," alluding to the video game Mario Kart.

Mario Kart Mazda: Nunchuck controller as handbrake

Apparently spurred on by the enormous response, the TikToker continued right away after the steering wheel change campaign - and, for example, also replaced the gear knob with a Nintendo product, the so-called Wii Nunchuck controller.

And that's not all: he cut the right floor mat out of a Wii fitness mat and replaced the handbrake handle with a Wii baseball bat.

And the radio also had to give way: Here Tyler Atkin implanted a Wii console – in the meantime he has also installed a small screen on which you can play Mario Kart, for example.

Of course, the Mazda owner also uploaded clips to TikTok of the new gimmicks.

Mario Kart Mazda: MX-5 is baptized because of the many Nintendo parts "Wiiata".

And because the Mazda MX-5 - which is sold in the USA as Mazda Miata - now carries so many console parts, the TikTok hobbyist has already found a suitable name: "Wiiata".

By the way, the Wii hasn't been produced for a long time - the latest version of Mario Kart runs on the successor Nintendo Switch.

Mario Kart Mazda: exit with Wii steering wheel on public roads

Apparently, the TikToker has even completed one or more trips with the Wii steering wheel on public roads - and of course filmed himself doing it.

However, this is absolutely not recommended for imitation, since the mini-rudder is probably just as dangerous as the wrench-steering action, a video of which also went viral.

Some of Atkin's videos also come with warnings: "Participating in this activity could result in injury to yourself or others."

Now the TikToker only has to adapt his own outfit to make the Mario Kart scenery perfect - and slip into Super Mario's plumber's outfit, Bowser's tank or maybe even Princess Peach's dress.
