The Gröbenzell town hall is now officially inaugurated.

There was the blessing of the church representatives on the roof terrace.

The citizens were now allowed to take a close look at the rooms.

Gröbenzell – The new town hall received its church blessing on Friday and was open to all citizens to visit.

An official ceremony also took place.

Municipal councilors, city hall employees, district administrator Thomas Karmasin, mayor colleagues, club representatives and neighbors who, according to Mayor Martin Schäfer, had to endure a little more noise in recent years, came.

The town hall was recreated “at a central location in the community, nestled and secure between the two churches in Gröbenzell,” described Roland Wittal, deacon of the Catholic parish of St. Johann Baptist.

In addition, it is surrounded by the old school, community center and social and meeting center.

The architectural office was also represented at the celebration.

It was not Stefan Behnisch himself, who actually wanted to come to the opening but was ill, but his colleague in Munich, Stephan Leißle, who explained the story of how it came about.

Leißle spoke of "a challenge", "a very extensive room program should be accommodated in a small area".

The task of the architects was to create a building "that does not appear too powerful".

It should not overwhelm the surrounding buildings, be as far away as possible from the neighbors to the north, even further away than the previous building.

Sculptural staircase

This is how the current town hall was created with different heights and recesses and projections, a spacious foyer, a large “sculptural staircase” according to Leißle, single and double offices housed in lockable wings, a conference hall, wedding room, multifunctional room and other rooms as well as an underground car park and a large one Roof terrace that allows a view over the entire place.

The building is mainly made of concrete, with wooden paneling on the outer walls, which ensures shading.

Nevertheless, the windows can be opened and the concrete ceilings can not only heat but also cool and there is a ventilation system with heat recovery.

The offices are illuminated by flexible floor lamps, and the technology for the individual rooms is hidden in the large window sills, as Leißle explained.

Many challenges

"It wasn't always easy," admitted Mayor Schäfer.

The construction was accompanied by many challenges, including many a delivery bottleneck.

The new building is not yet completely finished.

Parts of the outdoor facilities and the photovoltaic system on the roof of the new building are missing.

The latter had to be advertised three times until an acceptable result was available, as Schäfer explained.

On Friday, not only invited guests had the opportunity to visit the house, in the course of the afternoon this was also offered to all citizens, who also actively used it.

The thing with the archive of the municipality

Almost a year ago, the town hall employees were able to move into their new house on Rathausstrasse.

However, it took a little longer for the archive to be accommodated.

This should move into rooms in the basement of the building that do not get too warm and must not exceed a certain humidity level.

It caused a stir when a few weeks ago an employee of the regional section of the SZ was unable to take a look at the archive as he had wished.

The daily newspaper was offered this opportunity on Friday.

Cardboard boxes in particular can still be viewed there, because the archive, which has been housed in the basement of the community center since its inception, only moved into its new home five weeks ago.

And the town hall employee responsible for the archive, Albert Fischer, is not in town hall every day.
