The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the BBC confirmed on Monday that Eurovision 2023 will be held in the UK, on behalf of this year's winning broadcaster, Ukraine's UA:PBC.
The host city will be chosen in the coming months, after an election process that begins this week, both institutions explained in a statement on Monday.
Once the organization of the festival decided that it could not be held in Ukraine for security reasons, it explored a series of alternatives that have led the British public network to be the alternative host, having been ranked second in the 2022 edition that took place last May in Turin (Italy) with the theme Sp

Sam Ryder.
“The BBC has taken on hosting duties for other winning countries on four previous occasions.
Continuing this tradition of solidarity, we know that next year's competition will showcase the creativity and skill of one of Europe's most experienced public broadcasters, while ensuring that this year's winners, Ukraine, will be celebrated and represented during the entire event”, comments the BBC in the text.

We are grateful to our partners at the BBC for showing their solidarity with us.
I am sure that together we will be able to add the Ukrainian spirit to this event and once again unite all of Europe around our common values of peace, support, celebration of diversity and talent.”
