The Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) gives the Munich S-Bahn a bad report and urgently calls for improvements.

This also applies to the Erdinger outer branch.

Erding - Alfred Schreiber from VCD Erding/Freising calls for the continuous two-track expansion between Erding and Markt Schwaben, "where new delays are taken over into the S-Bahn system every day because the S2 in Ottenhofen has to wait for the oncoming train".

As is well known, two tracks are only planned between Aufhausen and St. Koloman - as part of the second S-Bahn trunk line in Munich.

The VCD considers further rail expansion in the airport region to be unavoidable - the Munich-Freising route, "where, in addition to the S1 to Freising and to the airport, regional trains and freight trains - including those from BMW from Dingolfing - jostle and obstruct each other.

It probably won't work without appropriate overtaking tracks," said Schreiber in a press release.

He is not surprised by the "disaster on the second regular route".

Environmental organizations had repeatedly warned of this in advance.

Instead, for example, the expansion of the southern ring was discussed.

"The concerns about this tunnel project were dismissed as pessimism at the time," recalls Schreiber.

For him, the tunnel project "is not a big hit anyway from a traffic point of view".

The condition of the S-Bahn has now reached a level that is no longer acceptable - constant disruptions, delays and cancellations.

"This is not only annoying for passengers, but now also for companies." The problems had an "increasingly negative impact on Munich as a business location," said Schreiber.
