Today, the Ministry of Health inaugurated the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed field hospital near the Conference Palace in the countryside of Damascus, with a capacity of 135 beds, including 40 care beds.
In a statement to reporters, Health Minister Dr. Hassan al-Ghubash said that choosing the location of the hospital and opening it came under the directives of President Bashar al-Assad to cover the Ghouta region and wide geographical areas in Damascus countryside, which include about one million people.
Minister Al-Ghubash indicated that the opening of the hospital came with the support of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, in the context of the humanitarian response to the Covid 19 pandemic and its effects, which is evidence of the strong historical brotherly relations between the two leaderships and peoples in the two countries.
Minister Al-Ghubash indicated that the hospital includes all the necessary medical equipment, such as x-ray devices, axial tomography, and competitors to provide the appropriate medical service, in addition to a number of other departments, such as a laboratory with all its equipment and an intensive care department.
The Chargé d'Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdul Hakim Al-Nuaimi, the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Safwan Abu Saada, the Secretary of the Damascus Countryside Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, a number of members of the People's Assembly, the Director of Damascus Countryside Health, and a number of central directors in the Ministry of Health participated in the opening.
