Russian doctor Ilya Melikhin, a sports medicine specialist, warned of the dangers of obesity due to the incorrect use of sports food.
“The incorrect use of sports food can lead to an increase in fat and not to the growth of muscle mass,” Ilya said in a statement to Radio Sputnik, pointing out that sports food cannot be eaten as normal food because it contains high calories and is intended for people who exercise a great deal of physical exertion.
He gave an example that if a person regularly eats a piece of the protein bar for athletes as a snack, he will gain weight due to the increase in the volume of fatty tissue, indicating that the danger of the sports protein bar lies in the fact that the person does not believe that this piece can replace a complete meal, so it can be eaten Only in exceptional cases, such as when there is not enough time to eat a meal.
He said: "Sometimes a protein bar is a nutritious means that a person cannot run without it to the end of the prescribed distance, and on the contrary, it harms his health during exercise, considering that the sports protein bar does not harm the body unless all the calories it contains are not burned."
