David Warner, an English actor who portrayed supporting villains with aplomb in movies like "Titanic" and "Tron," died over the weekend.
He was 80 years old.
David Warner died of a "cancer-related illness," his family said in a statement shared by his talent agency with CNN.
He had been ill for 18 months, his family wrote, and "approached his diagnosis with characteristic grace and dignity."

His was a prolific career that spanned more than 50 years, from horror classics to Oscar-winning films;
from a popular animated series to a Disney musical.
There was hardly a genre of movies he didn't make a mark on, he acknowledged in a 2017 interview with the AV Club.
"I've done war movies, I've done westerns, I've done science fiction... I mean, I wasn't in 'Harry Potter,' and I wasn't in 'Lord Of The Rings,' and I haven't been in 'Game Of Thrones.'" he told the AV Club.
"So I haven't made it to those big ones. But that's show business...and, you know, I think I've still done well."

David Warner is survived by his partner Lisa Bowerman, their son Luke and his "many friends in gold dust," among others, his family wrote in a statement.
"We, his family and friends will miss him greatly, and will remember him as a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of many over the years," his family said. .
