Di Maio, culture instrument of dialogue, Italy as a point of reference

On 28 and 29 July the Conference of Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes will be held at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples: a moment of dialogue on Italian cultural promotion in the world marked by debates, seminars and working groups. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 26 - On July 28 and 29 the Conference of Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes will be held at the Teatrodi San Carlo in Naples: a moment of dialogue on Italian cultural promotion in the world marked by debates, seminars and working groups.

This was communicated by a note from the Farnesina.


    The Conference takes on particular importance this year as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of the IIC network, the first of which was established in 1922 in Prague.


   Foreign Minister Luigi DiMaio, Undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova, guests of high public and institutional profile and about 100 officials of the Cultural Promotion Area serving at the Farnesina will speak at the Conference.


   The choice of an office outside the Farnesina represents the first stage of a new path started by Maeci which aims to favor, also in the creative and cultural field, the international projection of the liveliest realities of the different territories, strengthening their interaction with the Farnesina and its network of the IIC.


    "Today, in the face of complex global challenges and conflicts that also affect the heart of Europe - underlined Minister Di Maio - culture is a precious tool for promoting mutual knowledge and a constructive and respectful dialogue between peoples, aimed at settling differences that are otherwise difficult resolution. And Italy, whose foreign policy has international stability as its guiding star, must exploit its credibility as a cultural reference point to strengthen its ability to contribute to constructively orient the action of the international community in the face of current and future challenges " .


    The Conference assumes an even more significant role after the establishment on 1 January of the new General Directorate for Public and Cultural Diplomacy headed by Ambassador Pasquale Quito Terracciano.

"With the birth of the new DGDP, the Farnesina has chosen cultural diplomacy as a strategic tool at the service of the national interest


   . the Italian Cultural Institutes reaffirming their centrality in the framework of our foreign policy ", explained the Ambassador.


    The work on the first day will begin on the morning of 28 July with the interventions of the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova and the Director General Terracciano.


    The final session will be attended by Minister Luigi DiMaio, Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini, MartaRagozzino, Director of the Campania Regional Museums Directorate, Vincenzo De Luca, President of the Campania Region, Rosa AlbaImpronta President of the "Made in Cloister" Foundation and Gaetano Manfredi, Mayor of Naples .
