Finance and Accounting 8.5 re-elected chairman to replace Chen Jianbo and two university councillors to be filled

The new government has been re-elected, and many members of the Legislative Council have relocated to join the government or have been appointed as members of the Executive Council, leaving many issues to be dealt with by the Council.

The Legislative Council Secretariat has sent an email to invite Members to nominate candidates for the new chairman of the Finance and Accounting Committee. The completed nomination form should be returned by next Wednesday at the latest. Valid nominations must be made by one member and seconded by at least one other member. Accepted by nominated members.

If there is only one valid nomination in the end, the member will be automatically elected as the chairman; if there is no valid nomination, the first-ranked member of the Finance Committee will automatically become the chairman.

The Judicial and Legal Affairs Committee, originally chaired by Cheung Kwok-kwan, is scheduled to hold elections next Tuesday (August 2) to fill the chair vacancy created by Cheung's appointment as Deputy Secretary of Justice.

As for the positions of the board of directors of the University of Hong Kong and CUHK, which were originally held by Zhang Guojun and Mak Meijuan, respectively, they were also suspended due to their resignation as members.

The relevant positions must be elected by the incumbent members from each other. Nominations are currently being accepted. If there are more than one valid nominations, a vote will be held next Monday (August 1).
