At about 10 p.m. on the 26th, the police received a report from a passerby who found a boy walking off the road alone on Jaffe Road, Wan Chai.
Police arrived at the scene to investigate and located the boy, aged about 1, off 94 Jaffe Road. His father was also present at the time.
The father is a Mongolian national, 38 years old.
It is understood that at that time, the father took his son, drunk during the period, and had an argument with a passerby on the side of the road. He was too involved in the argument, ignoring that the son had walked out of the road on his own.
Police said that after a preliminary investigation, the father was arrested on suspicion of "abuse or neglect of children or young persons in his custody", and the case was handed over to the Wan Chai Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
The boy had no superficial injuries and was consciously taken to Ruttonjee Hospital for examination.
