Those who do not train today will soon no longer have any skilled workers.

The shortage of skilled workers in the region is becoming increasingly drastic.
Erding - The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) reports a month before the start of the new training year on September 1st of 440 vacant apprenticeships in the district alone.
The Freising Employment Agency reports that there are still vacancies for trainees in 160 professions.
For the economy, this is becoming an ever greater problem, a brake on growth and an accelerator of the crisis.
According to Florian Reil, spokesman for the IHK, the 440 vacancies mean an increase of 22 compared to 2021. The gap will no longer be able to be closed completely.
Because the Chamber is currently only aware of 136 applicants who are still looking.
"In purely arithmetical terms, there are around three apprenticeships for every unplaced young person in the district," Reil calculates.
According to Otto Heinz, head of the IHK in the airport region, two trends are causing companies particular concern: “The number of school leavers is falling from year to year.
Many are more inclined towards an academic education.” However, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce reminds us that around a third of all first-year students finish their studies prematurely and without a degree.
"Practical vocational training could be the better start to professional life for many young women and men," says Heinz.
In addition, the corona pandemic has prevented trial internships, career information days or training fairs.
"Without well-trained young professionals, the already worrying shortage of staff will only get worse," Heinz is convinced.
“Ultimately, the great challenges of our time, such as the energy transition and climate neutrality, cannot be achieved without skilled workers.” District master craftsman Rudolf Waxenberger expressed the same fear in this newspaper last week (we reported).
In the first half of the year, the IHK for Munich and Upper Bavaria recorded 8,553 newly concluded training contracts throughout Upper Bavaria, an increase of 2.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
There are around 170 IHK training companies in the Erding district.
Around 250 young people start their apprenticeships in the skilled trades every year – and the trend is falling because of the low birth rate.
The employment agency reports that there are almost 1,800 vacancies for apprenticeships in the districts of Erding, Freising, Ebersberg and Dachau.
The situation is worst in Freising, where 605 trainee positions are vacant.
But the Freising agency director Nikolaus Windisch turns the tables: “The prospects for young people who are still looking are currently very good – from A for opticians to Z for carpenters.
Windisch advises not to be deterred by the approaching start of the training year in just over a month: "We will do everything we can at least until the end of the year to find a training place for the remaining applicants through targeted follow-up placement campaigns."
He also refers to numerous funding opportunities such as pre-vocational training measures, introductory qualifications, assisted training or vocational training in external institutions.
