The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, stressed the importance of culture and its role in building thought and people and preserving national identity, during her meeting today at the ministry building with a delegation from the General Union of Arab Writers, whose council meeting is being held in Damascus with the participation of 12 Arab countries.
Dr. Mushawah indicated the importance of integrating efforts at all levels to fortify thought and the homeland against the conspiracies that have been hatched against it to rob it of its will and capabilities, stressing the role of education and child culture, the importance of the cultural industry, and motivating local communities to take their role in practicing constructive cultural action alongside state institutions.
The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Writers, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hadi, spoke about adhering to the culture of resistance, which stood as an impenetrable bulwark against all attacks that affect thought and culture.
In his turn, the head of the Arab Writers Union in Syria, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, spoke about the necessity of the unity of joint Arab action in the cultural field, especially in these circumstances that threaten the existence and culture of the Arab nation.
The delegation members thanked Syria's leadership and people for its good hosting and organization, stressing that Syria, with its nationalist stances, will remain the beating heart of Arabism.
