A member of the Presidium of the Civil Military Administration of the Zaporozhye region, Vladimir Rogov, announced that the referendum on the province's accession to the Russian Federation will take place in the first half of next September.
"Everything is moving towards the fact that the referendum will take place in the first half of next September, when electoral commissions are now being formed," Rogov said in a statement today, noting that he does not rule out simultaneous holding of the referendum on the accession of Zaporozhye and Kherson provinces to the Russian Federation.
Rogov added: I think that the referendum may take place in one day and we are at the level of consultations with our colleagues in Kherson because we are doing one thing and working as one front, explaining that this option is real and completely ideal and depends on the security situation.
The administrations of Kherson and Zaporozhye provinces had announced earlier that election commissions had been set up to hold elections and a referendum on the issue of the two provinces joining Russia in the fall of this year.
