The youth fire brigades from the Weilheim-Schongau district met in Pähl to exchange ideas and to measure in various disciplines.
Pähl - When asked why he is in the youth fire brigade, Maxi Horn doesn't have to think long.
The 17-year-old student from Antdorf decided to join the fire brigade because he wanted to help people, and if that's possible in “grey company” like the fire brigade, then all the better.
He is taking part in the district youth fire brigade day for the second time.
For the first time in 2019 in Schongau, now in Pühl.
Having fun is important to him during the competition, “but there is also ambition”.
He has goals for training with the fire brigade: he wants to become a breathing apparatus wearer and team leader.

13-year-old Verena Bocksberger, who has only been in the youth fire brigade since this year, also wants to stay in the Antdorf fire brigade, where she can do something useful with friends because "the fire brigade is needed".
The nice people and the nice community in the group are important for Anna Bertl.
The 15-year-old from Peiting, whose father also works in the fire service, has “always been interested in it because you can help other people there”.

According to Stefan Himml, the district youth fire brigade day has been held since 1985, this year for the 36th time.
The competition started in Schongau.
In 2019, after an uninterrupted series, it was over - again in Schongau, "because that's when the bad C word came," said the district fire chief.
Anniversary in Päh: 180 young firefighters between the ages of 12 and 17 took part
Himml thanks the Pähler fire brigade and its commander Martin Blobner for making their house and the grounds available for the competition on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their youth fire brigade - for the third time after 2005 and 2015.
"They put a lot of work into it," he praises the three dozen helpers who cleared out the hall and set up beer tables.
They also provided a snack and enough drinks in the heat, which was a considerable challenge for 18 youth fire brigades with a total of around 180 participants aged twelve to 17.
From syringes to hose reels: junior staff diligently collected points
Added to this would be the many hours of work that the district fire chief Günter Drobilitsch, who is responsible for youth work, and the trainers in the youth fire brigades have put in during training.
After all, the youngsters wanted to collect points in target spraying, line bag throwing, hose reels and suction line couplings.

The winner was the youth fire brigade Magnetsried.
The teams from Pähl and Fischen occupied the following podium places, Antdorf came in fourth place, Peiting in fifth place.
The competition is to take place in Peiting next year – if nothing comes up.
