A series of cultural events especially for children: that was recently in Eching.

This is how you want to inspire young people for music, theater and more.

Eching

- Even Eching's youngest citizens were able to enjoy their own series of cultural events at the weekend - free of charge.

At this year's first edition of the summer Echinger Kulturwoche with a dozen different performances and activities from A for Archive to Z for Magic Flute, Ulla Grabow, head of the culture department, put on an age-appropriate program with theater, music, museum education and creative design especially for kindergarten and primary school children .

Community archivist tells of Eching's past

Girls and boys accompanied by their parents were invited to a veritable visit to the theater with real actors on Saturday morning in the community center.

It was called "Tischlein Deck Dich" from the Augsburg theater "Fritz and Friends" on stage.

The Grimm fairy tale was adapted to suit the age group and staged in an adventurous manner, with playfulness and humor and involving the audience.

"All the birds are already here" sang the girls and boys from the children's choir of the music school on Sunday afternoon at the open-air concert.

Grabow also found valuable support during the culture days from local forces.

Eching's new community archivist, Rebecca Eckl, had designed a playful, worth knowing journey through time into Eching's past, which was primarily about finding out something about the tasks of a community archive as a place of remembrance.

As became clear at one of the various research stations, the "tools" of an archivist - including a magnifying glass and cotton gloves - are reminiscent of detective work.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The next day, together with the municipal archivist, the painting and handicraft day “All about potatoes” was extremely lively, with the help of her sister Alexandra.

The little artists could print or paint cotton bags and sports bags to their heart's content with self-made potato stamps.

In addition to the colorful range of creative activities, Eckl presented informative and interesting facts about the staple food potato, the introduction of the potato in Europe and its importance for Echingen's agriculture on information boards on the stony Munich gravel plain.

Open-air concert of the music school

After drama, history and “fine arts”, the music section could not be left out.

The children's choir of the music school, conducted by Katrin Masius and accompanied by Heike Storm on the accordion, gave a happy open-air concert on Sunday afternoon in the little garden next to the town hall.

For example, it said "Everything banana" and also "All birds are already there" - and all listeners were happy, in addition to the parental regular audience, passers-by or visitors to the ice cream parlor next door.

Grabow is not dissatisfied with the response to this cultural test balloon after the long Corona abstinence - and the offer was well received by children and parents alike.

It remains to be seen whether the hoped-for interest can also be aroused for cultural events that are subject to a fee.
