Lufthansa strike: almost all flights in Munich and Frankfurt canceled

The Verdi warning strike at Lufthansa hits the Munich and Frankfurt hubs in particular on Wednesday.
Almost all flights are cancelled.
Munich – Lufthansa ground staff are on strike this Wednesday.
Verdi had called for this.
Lufthansa is now drawing consequences in advance.
Verdi strike on Wednesday: Lufthansa cancels flights in Munich and Frankfurt
At the two hubs in Munich and Frankfurt am Main, Lufthansa canceled almost all flights due to the strike.
The company announced this on Tuesday.
The company announced in Frankfurt that there would be flight cancellations this Tuesday as well as on Thursday and Friday.
In total, more than 1,000 flights are said to have been canceled with 134,000 passengers affected.
The Verdi trade union has called on around 20,000 ground workers to take part in widespread work stoppages in order to put pressure on the ongoing salary negotiations.

In addition to the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Hanover, Stuttgart and Cologne are also affected.
The Lufthansa Group usually maintains smaller units there, which also offer their services to other airlines.
In Bavaria, Friday is the last day of school before the summer holidays.
Lufthansa strike: "Few or no" service counters
Passengers without transfers should not come to the airports because "little if any" service counters will be open there, the company warned.

The strike comes at a very bad time for Lufthansa.
There had already been flight chaos across Europe in the past few weeks and months.
Reason: staff shortages after the corona pandemic.
Now Verdi is going on strikes during the main holiday season in Germany.
The accusation from the unions: Lufthansa wants to appear like a premium brand, but doesn't want to pay for it.
Verdi demands 9.5 percent more salary.
Verdi has already rejected a first tariff offer from Lufthansa and agreed new negotiations for the beginning of August.
